The Remedy for MANY PROBLEMS....

There’s nothing actually appealing about the mysterious Himalayan goop I found ON LINE , but I couldn’t resist the temptation to give it a try.

​

I was browsing around my favorite CBD and kratom spot, Hidden Hemp, when I spotted several jars of brown gunk sitting innocuously behind a glass display case. It’s called shilajit. It’s sticky like old caramel, smells like rubber, looks like tar, and frankly doesn’t taste much better. Known traditionally as “the destroyer of weakness,” this thick adaptogenic, ayurvedic resin is said to contain more than 84 minerals, support the immune system, enhance energy and stamina, boost testosterone in men, and reduce inflammatory response.

 

This bizarre black substance is touted as the kind of cure-all that gets guys like me (you know, guys who like try weird shit in the name of self-discovery) all hot and bothered. After getting my hands on some shilajit, I devoted an entire month to experiencing the supposed effects of this mystery resin. I didn’t have any particular goals in mind for my trial—no races I was training for, or plans to lose weight or build muscle—I just wanted to see what would happen.

Ten potential benefits of Shilajit

When it is used correctly, shilajit may have several benefits for the body. This may be due in part to the high concentration of fulvic and humic acids, as well as many minerals.

 

1.BRAIN FUNCTION:

The numerous compounds found in shilajit may be helpful for brain function, and may even aid Alzheimer’s therapy. A study in the International Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease noted that shilajit is traditionally used for longevity and to slow aging. The
compounds in it may help control cognitive disorders, such as Alzheimer’s.

Researchers expect shilajit to have an impact in preventing cognitive disorders, but more research is needed to explore these possibilities.

 

2. Aging

One study noted that fulvic acid, one of the key compounds in shilajit, acts as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound. As such, it may help reduce free radicals and cellular damage in the body, which are two key factors in aging.

Daily supplementation of shilajit may contribute to overall vitality and a slower aging process in some people.

 

3. Anaemia

Anaemia develops when the blood does not have enough healthy cells or hemoglobin. There are many causes of anemia, including iron deficiency.

Iron deficiency anemia can cause numerous symptoms in the body, including:

Irregular heartbeat

Fatigue and weakness

Cold hands and feet

Headache

Shilajit contains high levels of humic acid and iron, which may be helpful in treating iron deficiency anemia. It is important to explore this option with a doctor before taking supplements, however.

 

4. Antiviral

The wide range of minerals and compounds found in shilajit may also help fight off viruses. A research study noted that shilajit could fight off and kill many different viruses in isolated environments, including some herpes viruses.

Researchers commented that while it does appear to be effective, more studies carried out with live subjects are needed to back up these claims.

 

5. Chronic fatigue

A 2012 study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology found that shilajit helped reduce symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome in test subjects.

Researchers noted that shilajit might help improve cell functions in the body, which means it may reduce fatigue at the source of the problem and increase energy levels naturally.

 

6. Altitude sickness

One of the claims made by traditional practitioners is that shilajit can help alleviate altitude sickness. The changes in pressure at high altitudes can greatly affect some people. Symptoms of altitude sickness range from body pain and fatigue to lung congestion and low oxygen in the brain.

Shilajit is a complex substance that contains more than 80 different minerals, as well as fulvic acid and humic acid. Because of this broad
spectrum of beneficial components, shilajit is thought to help reduce many symptoms of altitude sickness.

It may help improve the brain’s cognitive processes, boost the immune system, and reduce inflammation, all of which could lessen altitude sickness.

 

7. Liver cancer

Shilajit may also protect the heart and improve heart health. A recent study using rats noted the protective effects shilajit has on the heart.

Animals who were treated with shilajit prior to cardiac injury had less damage to the heart than those who were not given shilajit.

It is important to note that shilajit may reduce blood pressure in some cases and should not be taken by anyone who has an active heart condition.

9. Obesity

Carrying extra weight can tire the muscles and put stress on the bones. A study in the Journal of Medicinal Food noted that people who were obese who took an oral supplement of purified shilajit responded better to exercise than those who did not.

Researchers noted that the shilajit seemed to activate genes in the body that helped the skeletal muscles quickly adapt to the new workout. This could mean less fatigue and more strength over time.

10. Stamina ,Male fertility and Testosterone

Shilajit has also been studied to increase male fertility. One study gave 60 infertile men shilajit twice a day for 90 days.

After the test period, almost half of the men who completed the treatment showed an increase in total sperm count and sperm motility, or how many and how well the sperm move towards the egg, both of which are factors in male fertility, Another study looked at the ability of shilajit to increase testosterone levels in healthy volunteers. Men between 45 and 55 years old were given shilajit for 90 days. At the end of this period, researchers noted significant increases in the levels of total testosterone.

 

Ginseng

Ginseng refers to eleven different varieties of a short, slow-growing plant with fleshy roots. Ginseng is believed to restoreand enhance wellbeing. It is one of the most popular herbal remedies. The herbs consist of a light-colored, forked-shaped root, a relatively long stalk, and green leaves with an oval shape. Both American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius, L.) and Asian ginseng (P. Ginseng) are believed to boost energy, lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels, reduce stress promote relaxation, treat diabetes and manage dysfunction in men.

Increased energy

Ginseng may help stimulate physical and mental activity in peoplewho feel weak and tired. One study revealed that ginseng showed good results in helping cancer patients with fatigue. However, the energy-boosting effects of ginseng were only seen in people currently undergoing treatment. Ginseng did not show statistically significant improvements in people who had already finished cancer treatment.

 

Sharper cognitive function

Ginseng may improve thinking processes and cognition. Research published in The Cochrane Library examined the accuracy of this claim. The study says that ginseng seems to demonstrate benefits for cognition, behavior, and quality of life. However, the authors of the review cautioned that despite some positive findings, studies included in the systematic review did not make a convincing case for the effectiveness of ginseng as a cognitive booster. Richard Brown, M.D., an associate professor of clinical psychiatry at Columbia.

 

University, said about the study:

“It was a very careful review. But as with many Chinese herbs and treatments, while ginseng has been used by millions of people, there aren’t a lot of rigorous modern studies.”

 

Anti-inflammatory effects

Ginsenosides may have anti-inflammatory effects, according to experimental results in Journal of Translational Medicine. Ginseng is often used to reduce inflammation. The researchers suggest that ginsenosides may be responsible for targeting pathways in the immune system that could reduce inflammation.

 

Treatment of erectile dysfunction

Men may take ginseng to treat erectile dysfunction. A 2002 Korean study revealed that 60 percent of men who took ginseng noticed an improvement in their symptoms. Research published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology also claimed to provide “evidence for the effectiveness of red ginseng in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.” However, a more recent systematic review has been carried out. In assessing the effectiveness of red ginseng for treating erectile dysfunction, the review demonstrated that the number of trials, total sample size, and the quality of the experimental methods were not satisfactory for demonstrating ongoing clinical benefit. More research is needed to confirm ginseng as a reliable treatment for erectile dysfunction.

 

Flu prevention

Research on the effects of ginseng on mice suggests a possible link between ginseng and the treatment and prevention of influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Findings suggested that red ginseng extract could improve the survival of human lung epithelial cells infected with the influenza virus. However, many studies of the preventive actions of ginseng against viruses were later discredited as unreliable.

Horny Goat Weed

Horny Goat Weed is an herb (Epimedium). The leaves are used to make medicine. As many as 15 horny goat weed species are known as “yin yang huo” in Chinese medicine. Horny goat weed is commonly used by mouth for performance problems, such as erectile dysfunction (ED) and low desire. It is also used for weak back and knees, joint pain, arthritis mental and physical fatigue and memory loss along with many other conditions. But there is limited scientific research to support any of these uses. There have been studies conducted on cells in laboratories that report evidence of several beneficial properties of horny goat weed. Early research suggests that it may have properties that can keep bones strong, protect the nerves, and support the immune system.

 

Other cell research has revealed the following possible effects:

1. anticancer effects.

2. anti-HIV activity.

3. radio sensitizing effects.

4. reversal of multidrug resistance in some tumor cells.

5. postmenopausal bone loss prevention.

 

Always check the label of any horny goat weed product you purchase. While Epimedium saggitatum and Epimedium grandiflorum are commonly used in Chinese medicine, the varietal Epimedium koreanum may cause muscles spasm or the loss of muscle coordination for some people. Before using horny goat weed to treat any chronic condition, speak with your doctor to ensure that it doesn’t cause any harm or interact with any of the drugs you may be taking (including blood thinners and blood pressure medications).
